Resort 24 - Marques/Almeida
Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida drew inspiration from the 1970s, inspired by the iconic image of David Bowie on The Man Who Sold the World album cover. "He's lying on a brocade sofa, wearing a brocade dress in a vintage room," shared Marta. "And from there, we started exploring '70s fashion." The design duo began experimenting with various vintage fabrics. "We started working with brocade patterns, similar to those used for sofas or curtains, and it was very heavy," recounted Marta.
To overcome the weight of brocade fabric, the designers decided to create their own jacquard patterns, which were featured in their designs. Marques’Almeida focused on the concept of vintage clothing with modern, innovative twists. The collection included wide-leg denim jeans, made from premium Japanese denim, tops, and dresses with 1970s-inspired designs in shades of green, pink, purple, and light beige. A bell-sleeved knit top and wide-leg trousers created an elegant pairing. For evening wear, Marques’Almeida indulged the desire for glamour with a strapless trapeze gown in deep purple, adorned with feather trim, reminiscent of 1970s fashion.
